The thinking
Rather than forcing a conventional boiler solution into an unsuitable space, the challenge was reframed as one of modularity, logistics, and certainty.
Using TCS’s C600 cube boiler platform, a two-boiler, 1.2MW configuration was designed that could be broken down into compact modules, transported through the restricted access route, and assembled in position on site.
Detailed logistics planning ensured:
• Truck and trailer delivery suited to local road constraints, avoiding HGVs and unnecessary compliance costs
• Sequenced handling to navigate tight turns and level changes safely
• Temporary protection and way-finding to allow residents and pedestrians to move freely throughout the installation
The outcome
Despite severe access restrictions, 1.2MW of reliable temporary heating was successfully installed and commissioned.
• Resident comfort was restored without prolonged downtime
• No road closures, craning, or intrusive building works were required
• The site remained fully accessible and safe throughout the install
The system now supports space heating across Grove Hall Court, with future phases already planned to incorporate domestic hot water load — creating a scalable, resilient temporary energy centre tailored to this landmark St John’s Wood address.
When access is restricted and expectations are high, TCS adapts the solution, not the site.
